I am a self-employed cultural research consultant. My background includes community-based interviewing and mapping work particularly where they are related to the documentation of traditional and contemporary land use by native groups as well as their historical sites and places of cultural significance. I also work on genealogical projects, report production, historical photograph research, and general library or archival research (in Vancouver or Victoria).
My experience in these areas stems from participation in a number of Traditional Use Studies and similar projects for First Nations clients and for other consulting firms. This work has taken me to communities on Vancouver Island, on the British Columbia Central Coast, and in northern British Columbia. I am a former partner in the consulting firm of DM Cultural Services, Ltd. (DMCS). DMCS is now run by Robert N. Diaz in Victoria and Prince George, British Columbia. DMCS specializes in providing research and management services to First Nations groups. This work includes treaty research, land use studies, specific claims, oil and gas consultation, and corporate consultation.
